The Mark McKenzie Quartet is a Dallas-based jazz group with an authentic, accessible sound — firmly rooted in the mainstream of jazz tradition while also appealing to a wide audience.
With McKenzie on saxophones, George Gagliardi on piano and guitar, Raylan Loggins on bass, and Jon Hock on drums, the band presents straight-ahead, acoustic, small-group jazz with a tasteful, melodic sensibility. The resulting music creates an elegant ambience, but also rewards close listening.
The group’s repertoire consists of standards from the Great American Songbook as well as classic and contemporary jazz. The band also features original compositions from pianist/guitarist Gagliardi, a veteran songwriter and performer.
